Cleaning out that Spice Cupboard

I’m a spice girl. Let’s just say growing up, my Grandmum raise me right and taught me the keys of western cooking—aka a lazy suzy should always be packed with zesty, potent herbs to sprinkle across any meal.

The more I’ve delved into natural living—the more I’ve realized that spices are tricky little beasts—hidden ingredients, pesticides, unethical sourcing—there’s even fumigation to try to keep track of.  Needless to say, the more I learned, the more I realized it was time kiss my good-ole Lowery’s goodbye and invest in the good stuff.

Simply Organic: Their spices truly taste better. Unlike the vast majority of the spices out there, Simply Organic’s refuses to irradiated their herbs. This company also stays true to Mother Nature by using cryogenic grinding to keep intrinsic (heat-sensitive) qualities of each herb intact.  In comparison, most other companies use heat (up to 200 degrees) in their processing.  If you are feeling thrifty and looking for bulk, check out their sister company, Frontier Co-Op.

Simply Organic spices are organic and free of MSG (or any of hidden forms of MSG lurking in labels under less recognizable names like “glutamic acid” or “torula yeast”). These spices are also free of high fructose corn syrup and aspartame—which are (surprisingly) two ingredients often found in conventional spices/seasonings brands. This is one good-Karma company. When it comes to sourcing, Simply Organic believes in fair-pay and gives 1% back each year to organic agriculture.

Good for Others -   Simply Organic also excels in this area. They offer fair prices, and deal directly with growers (whenever possible) to give maximum compensation for the sustainably and organically growing farmers.  Simply Organic also supports the Frontier Foundationthe Simply Organic 1% fundthe Aura Cacia Organic Fund and maintains a local Community Giving Team

Good for You -  If you are going for first-rate extracts, spices, and seasonings Simply Organic is the ideal choice. None of their are ingredients are irradiated and they use cryogenic grinding (instead of the typical grinding process where temperatures often reach 200+ degrees).

Good for Earth -  Many of Simply Organic's processes are powered with 100% renewable energy through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) Green Tag program. Simply Organic's distribution centers are 100% carbon neutral (which basically means they offset their carbon food print). Simply Organic's parent company (Frontier) is a member of the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) Green Power Partnership Program. I love how you can see the sourcing origin of every product ton their website!

C&C Overall -  The flavors in Simply Organic are robust, their processes are ethical, their products look lovely. I've been sold from the start.  This is a C&C raving review!  It's totes worth the purchase.
