Lemon's Review: The Aerosol-Free Acure Dry Shampoo
Hazel will attest, I’m a dry shampoo addict.
When it comes to my routine, I’m a big believer in using it on day-1-hair. I let my recently-washed hair air dry, and then I add avocado oil to the last two inches of my hair and followed by adding Acure dry shampoo from root to tip using a bronzer brush. I add oil first because dry shampoo can tend to dry out hair, so it’s a bit of a protective measure.
Viola. More volume, better texture and it makes for easier set waves.
Acure Organics is a family owned and operated company located in the US of A. It was founded by a woman named Kristy Guerra. She was inspired to create the beauty line after her grandmother battled breast cancer for 10 years. Kristy was determined to honor her grandmother’s legacy by building a company that could help raise money for breast cancer research all while using safer ingredients. So Acure designs all their products without any chemical agents like pesticides, fertilizers, and additives such as artificial colors, preservatives, and fragrances.
I’ve DIYed dry shampoo before using this recipe and this Crunchy Betty recipe. I enjoyed both, but I felt like I missed the lighter texture I was used to in my aerosol dry shampoo sprays. Blush, and yes I was a big batiste user back in the day.
Update: Looks like Acure updated their Dry Shampoo packaging, so it no longer looks and acts like a baby powder bottle (which was a bit of a pain to apply via bronzer brush). The new packaging has a horizontal air-puff bottle which makes the whole experience so much more quick-fix-friendly. Plus, it's an easier transition for my aerosol addicts out there (like me). Anyways, here’s a quick how-to video about the new packing from Mommy Greenest I thought might come in handy.
Do you have an eco-friendly, all natural hack for those non-showering days? Let me and my sister know!

Lemon

C&C Overall - First things first, you need to know that this isn’t a spray, it’s a powder that does have to be rubbed or brushed in. I just make sure to apply while standing over a sink. The bottle is more expensive than other brands, but it is rather large and tends to lasts me a lot longer than the Clean Freak dry shampoo I used to use (I use Acure’s Dry Shampoo probably 5 days of the week). If you have darker hair, I’d definitely opt for the darker powder version (it’s a bit more pinkish). If you want something with a strong fragrance, then this might not be best dry shampoo for you. It does smell like rosemary and peppermint but it’s very subtle. If you are used to aerosol sprays then this might be a bit of a tough transition, but if you are used to using powder dry shampoos I think their new packaging would make your day-to-day easier.
