Let’s Talk About Emma Stone’s All Natural Lip Mask

Let’s Talk About Emma Stone’s All Natural Lip Mask

Emma Stone’s beauty routine is anything but irrelevant, so when she posted her iconic pre-Golden Globes lip mask on insta I started scouring the internet for something similar (but all-natural) to try.  Turns out Emma Stone’s makeup artist (Rachel Goodwin) had already done the hard work for me, the lip mask she applied was already chemical-free (thanks to KNC Beauty).

Below I’ve included the ingredients of the KNC mask―I also included two links to EWG to help explain what some of the ingredients are. While the EWG hasn’t rated this product yet, I’d guess it would land as a safe a “2” on their scale.

Deionized water, glycerin, collagen, prunus creases (bitter cherry) extract, hyaluronic acid, rose flower oil, vitamin e.

KNC was started by beauty columnist Kristen Noel Crawley.  She became obsessed with Tokyo’s lip masks but couldn’t find any all-natural alternative. So she made her own version to the delight of celebs (Teyana Taylor, Caroline Vreeland & Kim Kardashian to name a few) and non-celebs alike. The mask uses bitter cherry extract, rose flower oil and vitamin E to prime your lips for everything from puckering, to sun-exposure, to lipstick.

So what is a lip mask all about? Lushness, plumpness and locked-in moisture. It's the kind of stuff that chapstick just can’t supply.

If you are feeling a bit tentative about trying this lip mask out, here are my tips and tricks:

  • When you pull the mask out, find the side of the mask that feels moister. Apply the moist side to your closed (slightly puckered) lips. Don’t worry it may take a few adjustments before it stays in place. We found it stick on best if you apply the mask from the top of your lips (starting halfway between the space between your nose and mouth) and then press gently downward.

  • For the next 15 minutes take some quality-quarantine time by placing yourself in an environment where you won’t be tempted to talk. You can also join the lip mask tribe and take a selfy-worthy photo tagged #lipmaskandchill. While the mask does have a slit in the middle, it works much better if you keep you lips gently shut.

  • You’ll know the mask is working when you start feeling some soft tingly sensations―that's the collagen kicking in. After the 15 minutes are up, gently pull the mask off. You can use 2-3 lip masks per week.
