R+Co: Miraculous, Messy & SLS-Free Volume

R+Co: Miraculous, Messy & SLS-Free Volume

It’s no secret that Hazel's and my Scandinavian bloodline makes for fine hair. So, when Hazel returned home from a salon appointment with full, bouncy, mane-like locks, I was impressed.

Then, my jaw dropped when Hazel mentioned that her hairstylist had merely trimmed the ends and used only two products. Two Products!

That’s the magic of R+Co.

I’ll admit R+Co isn’t the very cleanest hair brand we’ve ever written about. But the products are noteworthy (and worth posting about) because they are formulated without parabens, sulfates (SLS or SLES), mineral oil and petrolatum. Plus, each one is vegetarian, cruelty-free, gluten-free and color-safe.  Also, most of the packaging can be recycled.  R+Co was founded by three big names in hair: Howard McLaren (the creative director of Toni & Guy to Bumble & bumble), Garren (the stylist for Swift, Hadid and Ewers) and Thom Priano (his clientele include Pitt, Timberlake and Bowie.) This is a lot of experience―all at your fingertips.

Anyways, back to Hazel’s perfectly textured (Gisele-worthy) hair.  The two products she used (and subsequently purchased) were R+Co’s Death Valley Dry Shampoo & Outer Space Hairspray.

Here’s what we loved about both products:

Death Valley Dry Shampoo: This is the product Hazel uses first to build volume.  It’s a dry shampoo that doesn’t leave residue (or feel chalky on your hair). At the same time, it's highly oil absorbent (and we were testing it out with two-day old hair). The weightless aspect of this dry shampoo might be the best part for us fine-haired females.

Outer Space Hairspray: Think scrunchable, adjustable volume that'll hold all day (even after a bit of gym-sweat). This hairspray isn’t your typical inflexible formula. It’s called a “working spray” because it that adds plenty of body (but you can comb through it and adjust styles).  When it comes to holding in a curl, a little of this hairspray goes a long way for both of us.  Plus we heart the bergamot/fig scent.

Have you used R+Co yet? Have any other salon-worthy haircare lines that are ideal for fine hair? We want to hear about it.

LOVE,

Lemon & Hazel

Good for You - We love that R+Co is free of parabens, sulfates (SLS or SLES), mineral oil and petrolatum but there are a few fragrance ingredients to be mindful of: Butane, Citral, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal & Parfum

Good for Others - Neutral.

Good for Earth - A majority of R+Co’s packaging is recyclable. R+Co also makes a special effort to eliminate all packaging non-essentials.  Plus, every product is vegetarian, & cruelty-free.

C&C Overall -  It's hard not to be obsessed with R+Co's hair wizardry, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that they come out with a few fragrance-free versions asap.
