The Ideal Eco-Chic Gift for Mums-To-Be
Baby shower gifts can be oh-so hit-and-miss. Finding something that fits the future mama's style is hard. And finding something that also aligns with her parenting preferences is even harder. If you are looking to reshuffle your generic gift-giving deck, Lalalbu's Soothe Shirt might just be your piece of pie.
I stumbled across Lalabu's line while skimming a Huff Post article. The whole concept of the functional "babywearing movement" really resounded with me. Tons of research delves into the benefits both mum and child experience with that level of contact. Better yet, Lalalbu's clothing line truly is the best balance of motherhood minimalism. Neutral shades, custom milled fabric, supportive elasticity and a pouch that can grow with your newborn (all the way up to five months). It also has super soft built-in nursing bra for quick access that tons of mothers swear by and an extra flap to help hold the baby's head up.
Last winter I gave Lalabu's "SWL" shirt to my friend Charlee to celebrate her mommy-one-month-anniversary (it's kinda a big deal). Three days later she texted me ranting about how much easier the shirt was to use. She said it was oh-so-much better than the wraps she had inherited from her sister-in-law. A week later, she messaged me that she had already ordered another two shirts. I'd say it was a gift-givin' success.
Made in the USA. 2% of every purchase helps new mothers in Africa. Lalalbu also invests time and money to help startups in Africa. So far they've helped grow over 40 business. You can read the beautiful stories of giving and growth here.

Good for You - When it comes to breast feeding, we love that this shirts is super-functional (easy access bra-panel fabric made from a soft tencel) and super comfortable (custom-milled polyester, rayon, spandex blend). We've got our fingers crossed that in the future, Lalabu also comes out with some 100% natural fibers options too. You might want to be mindful of the rayon and polyester.
Good for Others - Since 2013, Lalabu gives back 2% of every purchase to a charity of choice. Recently, the company just expanded their giveback scope to include more causes -- the best part is that after customers purchase, they can choose which cause their 2% goes to! You can read more about how Lalabu gives & find a list of their current causes here.
Good for Earth - As far as recycling goes, Lalabu is a fairly small company, but in house they have recycling bins and use them for everything we can. In fact, they even recycle their cardboard. Each shirt is made in the USA. I'd love just a tad more information about where they source their fabric from.
C&C Overall - I love Lalabu's look, messaging and their dad's shirts are pretty nifty too. It's a great, unique gift for all those style-conscious yet hands-on mums out there. I'm just craving that they come out with a line with more natural fibers.
