Quinn Popcorn: Making Microwavable Popcorn Great Again
I married into a family that takes popcorn very seriously. My delightful (and oh-so-hippie) in-laws have this secret recipe that they swear by. As part of the welcoming routine to their Monday-movie nights, we are handed a massive bowl of popped corn. It’s delectable. It’s savory and it’s been artistically blended with coconut oil, raw butter and some enigmatic “ingredient X”.
My in-laws make this familial popcorn on the stovetop, so I felt a bit cynical when Hazel pulled out some microwavable popcorn bags labeled “Quinn Popcorn.” With a little jazz-hand flare she declared that it had become one of her (and toddler “S’s”) favorite snacks.
My skepticism increased when we placed the bag on the microwave’s turntable. I even experience some flashbacks of my childhood. Cue: my cute ten-year-old-fingers reaching into those Act II popcorn bags. Think neon yellow faux-butter, greasy fingers and an outrageous amount of salt.
Luckily, Quinn popcorn is nothing like those flashbacks. Instead of filling the bag with sketchy additives (carbonyl groups, preservatives, and other unpronounceables). Quinn Popcorn just fills their compostable microwave bags with nature’s best ingredients. It’s the minimalist popcorn that every healthy-foodie dreams of guiltlessly grabbing (in handfuls). It’s also complete with BPA-free pouches of pre-portioned seasonings of real butter, sunflower oil and sea salt.
I did a bit more research on Quinn Popcorn and I loved how it truly has a small (but passionate) business feel. In fact, their entire team is made up of only five people. Quinn Popcorn also keeps it small and simple when it comes to offerings: lemon/sea salt, Vermont maple & parmesan/rosemary.
Have you had Quinn Popcorn before or does your family have a secret popcorn recipe too?

Good for You - Quinn Popcorn has finally brought allure back to microwavable popcorn. You get all of the buttery goodness without the chemical-coated bags, nasty hydrogenated oils , GMO kernels or artificial ingredients. It’s the pantry’s quick-snack star of the show with super simple ingredients.
Good for Others - Quinn Popcorn is a “Certified B Corp”. This certification is what Fair Trade is to coffee. They hold businesses accountable to high standards of social and environmental performance, and public transparency, so that business can be a force for good. I especially admire their “Farm to Bag” inative that where are Quinn’s ingredients come from. Quinn popcorn also has hefty plans to team up with American farmers via Farm Aid and the National Young Farmers Coalition.
Good for Earth - Quinn popcorn used to use un-recyclable laminated material in their bags but now they’ve upgrade to compostable bags—and we couldn’t be more excited!
C&C Review - These natural, ingredients make some pretty delish "non-stovetop" popcorn. I truly appreciate the new zest they brought to a marketplace oversaturated with boring kettle, cheddar and butter. I think the Parmesan and Rosemary popcorn is especially good! If you enjoy gentle and moderate flavors you’re bound to love the pre-measured add-ins. Hazel adores Quinn popcorn. But personally I adore popcorn that had some serious seasoning gusto...so when I popped my first batch I remember looking at the seasoning packets concerned. Overall, I think these are great to have on hand for lazy days, special movie-nights and babysitters, but for the price (and because my husband and I like to eat popcorn in bulk) I usually pull out huge bag of nonGMO kernals, my whirly pop, my coconut oil and my sea salt. Oh, and word to the wise, don’t depend on that “microwave popcorn button” —it never seems to work and that holds especially true for these bags.
