Try Your Hand at Turmeric Tea

Try Your Hand at Turmeric Tea

Tumeric Tea has a cult following.  And that makes sense, considering the 10+ benefits everyone swears by, from Dr. Axe to Sir Michael Caine. If the curry color is a bit intimidating, this recipe might just be a great baby-step in the right direction.

Prep time: 5 Minutes
Cook time: 20 Minutes

  • pinch of cinnamon

  • pinch of nutmeg

  • 1/2 teaspoon tumeric

  • ginger oil (1 drop)

  • 1 1/2 cup filtered water

  • Raw honey (sweeten to your taste)

  • Raw milk (or almond milk)

  • Optional (lemon slices)

Instructions:

On your stovetop simmer the filtered water while adding cinnamon, nutmeg, and turmeric.

Pour the warmed herb-water into your favorite mug and add the ginger oil, the honey, and the milk.  Stir and enjoy that yellow dose of antioxidants. For a dose of a bit more zest try adding some lemon slices.

I see this tea as one of my first options when I feel the onset of the mid-winter blues (cough, cough or what the hubster likes to call the "cold weather rut"). Turmeric was often used in Chinese medicine to help with depressive thoughts and feelings. It might just be all mental, but I feel that  a cup-or-two of this stuff per week helps me be a bit calmer and content

Have you ever used turmeric to help buoy your mood? What's your secret recipe? I'd love to know!

XOXO,

Lemon
